The Snowy Range Piano Competiton will begin its inaugural year in the 2007-2008 academic year with the goal of advancing the arts, promoting piano performance, and encouraging young pianists residing in the Rocky Mountain states. The competition is sponsored by the Linford-Pfeifer Foundation in partnership with the University of Wyoming. There are two divisions. The University of Wyoming Division competition took place on the weekend of November 3-4, 2007. UW students who are 17 to 26 years of age are eligible. The Regional Division will be held annually and include pianists between the ages 16 to 19 who are residents of Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Montana, or Idaho. The competition will be in recital format and is scheduled for May 24-25, 2008. The application, as well as the rules and regulations, for the Regional Division are currently available online. Further details on eligibility, performance requirements, facilities, and prizes are currently available on this website. We encourage the participation of music professionals and others dedicated to the arts to ensure success of the program.
