Eligibility

Eligibility requirements for 2010 are the same as those established for the inaugural competitions of 2007 (UW) and 2008 (Regional). The Regional Division is open to pianists of ages 16 to 19 and residents of the five Rocky Mountain states, as defined below. The University of Wyoming Division is open to students who are enrolled full-time at UW and in the age group of 17 to 26.

Detailed requirements for eligibility are given below and in the downloadable Rules and Regulations document on the Application page.

Regional Division

Age Requirement
- pianists of age 16 to 19 are eligible
- pianists of age of 19 at the start of the application period (January 5, 2009) are eligible
- pianists of age 16 by the end of the application period (March 6, 2009) are eligible
Residency Requirement
- pianist must be a resident of one of the Rocky Mountain states, which include Colorado, Utah, Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming
- residency is satisfied by one of the following criteria
  - resident of a Rocky Mountain state as of the end of the application deadline
  - student enrolled at least half-time at a college or music school in one of the Rocky Mountain states during the spring semester/quarter of the 2008-9 academic year
  - college or music school student who resided in a Rocky Mountain state during the year prior to their college/music school entrance
Participants need not be music majors.
Documentation of eligibility will be required.
Prior first place winners of this division are ineligible to compete again in the division.

University of Wyoming Division

Pianists of age 17 to 26 as of the date of the competition are eligible.
Student must be enrolled full-time at the University of Wyoming during the fall semester of the competition year in the BM, BA, BME, Performer's Certificate, or Master's degree program.
Participants need not be music majors.
Prior first place winners of this division are ineligible to compete again in the division.
